This is a short guide for newer recruits who may need help with remembering the radio codes.

10-4
This is used to acknowledge something.
For example, if someone was to say in 911b, "the patient has died" or "theres a fire at ____", you can state '10-4' in 911b.

10-17
This is used to show that you are enroute (going to) the scene.
For example, if someone says in 911b "need ems at bank" you would state 10-17 so they know you are coming. It is also used to state that you are going to the ER with a patient.

10-23
This is used to notify others that you have arrived on scene.
For example, if you are going to a fire or a knocked patient, you would state '10-23' in 911b once you have arrived. Also used to state when you have arrived at the ER with a patient

10-20
This is used to ask others in 911b what the last location is.
For example, if you cannot remember the location or cannot find a patient you can say '10-20' to ask others where it is.

Code 19
EMS Only
This is used to say that the patient that you are treating has been successfully revived.
For example, once you have arrived at the patient and have successfully revived them, you would state 'code 19' in 911b.

This is used to say that the patient you were going to has died.
For example, if you are heading to the location and they die while you are going there, you would state 'code 18' in 911b.

Code 17
EMS Only
This is used to ask for police escort.
For example, if you feel threatened for your life you can ask for police escort in 911b to help you to the ER.
Note: not everyone knows what this means.

Commencing risk assessment
Firefighters Only
Used at the scene of a fire to check if anyone is inside or around the building, if anyone is around, get them to a safe distance.

Risk Level #
Firefighters Only
Used to state the risk level of the fire you are at.
Risk level 1-5
Each level meaning can be found in #firefighter-announcements in the V.F.D Discord.

Commencing extinguishment
Firefighters Only
This is used once you have made sure the area is clear at a fire. It is when you start to extinguish the fire using your extinguisher.
(If you do not have one you can get it with /extinguisher)
