I thought I was safe. Everyone told me that this city could not be touched. The walls could never fall. But nothing lasts forever.

Setting: A city called Stonebridge, a long long time ago
-------------------I smiled as I walked out of my door. I finally had a day off from my job as a merchant. My brother and I decided to visit the market. I met him a a rather busy road. We

made our way down to the rows of different shops which were selling everything a person could need. After walking out of a store I looked further the road and noticed people were gathered around a man who was standing on a crate. I walked closer, trying

to understand why there was so much commotion. "You may think you are safe but no empire lasts forever! We need more security! We could get attacked at ANY second!" People yelled back at him and began to throw rocks. I almost felt bad for the man.

I then looked off into the distance where the large walls stood protecting this land. Nothing could penetrate it. I returned to my shopping without letting this topic worry me.

Later that night I went home thinking about what I would do the next day as I laid down. Little did I know that the next day would not be what I planned.

I woke up to the sound of loud yelling. I quickly went outside to see what was going on. Soldiers were running down the street towards the wall. Higher ranks were shouting orders to the soldiers they lead. I could not see past the wall but I could see the

faint sight of the glowing light which must have come from torches. At first I started to fear the chance that they would get in, but I soon realized that this wall would never allow anything to get inside. I spoke too soon as I heard the sound of a BOOM.

Not a second later part of the wall collapsed. Then another BOOM. Another part of the wall crumbled. Another groupd of soldiers ran by. "They're using cannons." One yelled. "I thought those were myths?" One questioned. They continued running.

After a short period of time the walls had been almost completely destroyed. Enemy soldiers were pouring into the city, yelling a brave cry as they ran. I ran inside and grabbed a sword from when I was in the military. I then rushed back outisde. I

ran. I didn't even know where I was running too but anywhere away from the chaos behind me would do. Then a man stepped out from behind a building. He wore a soldier's uniform that was not like anything from this city. I stumbled back. He had a wild look

in his eyes as though I had killed his family. He then charged at me. I stepped aside and parried his attack. He then backed away. I then advanced slowly towards him, making sure that I kept in a front guard. He attacked again, this time trying to stab at

my side. I blocked this attack but only barely. Our swords were pushing against each other. Each one of us was putting all of our strength in as we battled. He overwhelmed me and I fell backwards. Just as the soldier was about to put an end to me,

his eyes grew wide and he fell over, his sword clattering to the ground. Behind him was my brother. His sword covered in blood. He pulled me up. "We need to move." He said in a serious tone. I started to thank him but I could hear the sounds of enemy

soldiers getting closer. My brother and I ran down the street. The sight in front of me was horrible. They were burning buildings to the ground and killing everyone who got in their way. Suddenly soldiers ran to try and stop these crimes

Not a second later more and more soldiers from both sides rushed into action. My brother and I attemted to move through this chaos but we were quickly stopped by two men. They both raised their weapons and charged. One of them came at me

He tried to bring his sword down on my head but I raised my blade and blocked it. I then thrust my sword at his chest. He retreated back without taking the blow. He then charged at me and I stepped out of his path. I then tried a series of cuts attempting

to make him grow tired. Eventually his attacks slowed and I was able to make one last thrust into his chest. He fell to the ground. I looked at my brother who had just killed the man who challenged him. We kept running as smoke went into the air from

burning buildings. We stopped when we saw an enemy soldier pointing his sword at an innocent woman and her child. My brother threw his blade, which hit him in the side. He fell over, blood coming from him. The woman and the child ran as soon as they could

get up. We eventually made it to a part of the wall (or what used to be of the wall) and made our way towards it. When we were just about to cross outside of the city, an arrow wizzed by my head. When I looked to my brother he had an arrow in his side. He

fell to his knees. I looked over and saw an enemy soldier holding a bow, a smile on his face. I yelled out in anger. He aimed his bow at me and nocked an arrow. I ran behind a building. I could hear him coming closer. Suddenly when he turned the corner I

lunged at him. We both tumbled to the ground and began to wrestle. He grabbed my wrist as I tried to press my sword into him. For a moment his strength outmatched mine but I felt my anger give me strength and broke his grip. I then continued to stab him.

Finally when I calmed down, I ran to my brother. But it was too late. He was dead. Tears fell down my face and I dropped my sword. When I could no longer look at this horrific sight, I ran. I never looked back. I never looked back at the city that fell.
