Guide To Rights whilst in Custody with the VPD

You are entitled to the following rights:
a) The right to a legal practioner, if you do not have one, one will be provided
b) The right to be cautioned
c) The right to remain silent
d) The right to have someone notified of your detention

e) A copy of any records from your custody


The Caution:
"You do not have to say anything, but anything you do say may be given in evidence"

If you feel your rights have been supressed or you were mistreated whilst in custody you should contact a lawyer or the police chief.
