This is, obviously, a Choose Your Own Adventure Book. The way these types of books "work" are the following: First, the author introduces the setting in which the story takes place. Next, they provide you with three main choices that start the beginning

of the story. Then, you select choices based on what you think the most logical thing is. Lastly, there are three possible endings: dying, surviving, but accomplishing nothing, and surviving, and making a positive impact.

The setting in this Choose Your Own Adventure Book is medieval times in which you live in a small village. You are part of an army that contains less than fifty men. Your village is often in the middle of fights between bigger, stronger, villages. Choose

You decide that quitting the army and staying in your own village is the best idea, as many invaders never breach the city walls. Three weeks later, two of the three dominating villages form an alliance, conquer the third dominating village, and invade
