The Tunnels Part
III

The two men were doing something very risky, as they confirmed that the previous people who went inside the cave did not come out alive. Could it be possible that they would both be like that man two centuries ago, who ran out of the cave, into the

sunlight, a look of fear on his face. They could either look like that, or be like the forty or fifty men inside the cave, under the rubble. Maybe the person who had rigged the trap has been long dead. Or maybe, someone, or something else, was doing it.

The two men decided that they would risk their lives to bring back honor to the kingdom in which the King was from. They stepped into the cave. It slowly got smaller and smaller as they walked on, just like the only survivor said in the myth. Then, they

saw it. A light in a big room. The man in front took a nearby pebble, and threw it into the room. It instantly burned. The second man got a piece grass from outside. Once it made contact with the stone floor, it burned. The two men looked at each other,

and decided that they would have to find an alternate route past this trap. But, the man in front went into the room, but throwing large rocks, and jumping on them. The second man did the same, and they were soon halfway across the heated room. Then,

suddenly, the rocks under their feet began to start blackening and burning. They felt the eat under their boots. The ones behind them burned into ash. The first man took a long leap but landed short of the passageway. He landed on the hot floor, but

scrambled over to the edge. He barely made it. He had severe burns all over his body. The second man jumped and landed in the passageway. Seconds later the rock he was on burned up. They got up, and continued on their path. Then, they came to a room

filled with water. Water, they thought, would heal burns. One of the men was suspicious, though, and tossed a small rock into the water. Nothing happened. He waited, and then suddenly the water level rose. The passageway behind them seemed to lock. One of

the men jammed his dagger in the passageway continuing on their path, keeping it open, not fully though. The water was draining through there, but still filling up the entire room. The water was shoulder level now. The other man put his dagger in between

the door as well. They both pushed as hard as they could, and they began to see the water level stop rising, and begin going down. But, the water temperture started to increase, and soon it was unbearable. They swam over to the passageway, and started

going through. They saw the King's Crown in the water! They got up on a ledge, and walked along the edge, careful not to fall off into the twenty feet deep water. A piece of the ledge fell off, and one of the men almost fell down. They continued, and went

over to the crown. Pure, one-hundred percent gold. They picked it up. When they did, a they saw part of the wall open up, and some type of ramp leading to the surface. They went up it, and saw sunlight again! They got on their horses, and went away, back

to their hometown. When they arrived, they brought the Crown to the current king, and he thanked them, giving them incredible wealth. The two men never went out of the village limits again, as they had everything they needed inside their own home.
