INTRODUCTION

Most of the skills you picked up in grade school apply to writing great books in Minecraft. Readers are more likely to enjoy your books (and want more) if you follow some simple guidelines

GRAMMAR & SPELLING

It may feel tedious, but this is the major make-or-break factor in your writing career. Your readers will stay engaged if your story has few (if any) grammatical errors.

The easiest way to polish your spelling and grammar is to write your book in a word processor such as Word or OpenOffice, then copy-paste it into your Minecraft book. These programs usually have a spelling and grammar checker built right in.

If you don't already have one, you can download OpenOffice for free. It's the program I'm using to write this book right now!

QUALITY VS QUANTITY

Minecraft has about a 50 page limit to standard books, but does that mean you need to write long books? Not at all! Some of the better books I sell in my shop barely reach over 20 pages.

Good quality will always trump length. Reader's appreciate books that obviously have a lot of effort put into them. One of the reasons people keep coming back to read the VN Times is we typically spend 1-2 hours writing it. At least!

Remember to organize your book well. If you're writing a guide, include section headings. Novels should include chapter headings. Novels can also be broken up into several separate books. Many authors like to have a new book per chapter.

KNOWLEDGE

There is an adage in author circles: “Write what you know.” This means your best work is likely to be a subject you have deep familiarity with.

This is probably an easy concept if you plan on writing a guide or nonfiction book. People rely on you to get crafting recipes and facts correct. A little research goes a long way!

However, this is also true for fiction writing too! If you're a fan of sci-fi stories, you'll have a better grasp of writing for that genre than one you aren't interested in.

If you are actually interested in your own story, it will be easier to read and likely more entertaining to read.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I hope this guide helps you in you future writing career in Vindex! I look forward to reading your books (and maybe even carrying them in my shops!)
