I was sitting at my desk, with an apple cider in my hand and the other hand on my laptop. I was searching for research on my old job that I got fired from, I am now finding out it was a corrupt area, and that I shouldn't have worked in, but the journey I

took after they fired me, was worth it all. Let me start from the beggining, on a day much like this one, with a much worse ending.

"Zack! Get up, the boss wants you in his office. Now!" The boss' assistant yelled across the floor.

With an embarressed look on my face, I got up and walked into the office. I slowly strided to it, as if pulling out the time to the dreaded moment that rumors had told of before. As I pushed open the dark oak door in uptown Vindex, my heart dropped.

"Hello, Zack." The boss said to me in a low voice.

"Hi, Boss." I replied with barely a squeak in my tone.

"Do you know why I called you here today?" He said.

"No, not really, why did you call me here?"

I replied wondering the reason.

"I called you here because of this." The boss turned his computer screen and showed a picture he found on a laptop, the question was, who's was it?

He continued on,

"I found this on your computer Zack."

"Wait, what? I never had that, never seen that. I would never betray the company like that!" I said, scared I would lose my job.

"All the evidence points torwards you, Zack."

The boss replied, obviously not caring.

Without another word, I walked outside the office and packed my things. This job provided me shelter, food, and water. without it, I would need to live at a shelter for the people who could not afford a home.

I was now homeless.

After many nights of sleeping with my friends, with just a suitcase to my name, I decided I had to go to the shelter. How bad could it really be, right?

I took out my umbrella and walked to the shelter with the suitcase in my

hand. I was just going to see how it was, see if I could manage it until finding a new job. I pushed open the oak doors of the shelter, and realized it was a lot more dusty, and less clean, than I imagined. It would do I guess. I met many people, old and

young, short and tall, families, and single people on their own. Each dinner was small, but it was fine, at dinner we all laughed, talked and enjoyed ourselves. The shelter put me in a better mood that when I had a job, and an apartment. I learned to

enjoy things, not take them for granted anymore. I eventually found a job, and moved into my apartment with my girlfriend I met at the shelter. We eventually got married and moved into a house, every holiday, we visit the shelter and sing songs, bring in

large quantities of home made food, and just unite with them again. This takes me all the way back to the end, sipping apple cider, next to my laptop, with the sun shining through the blinds.
