Wisteria Grove looked like the best neighborhood on the island from the outside. All the outsiders envied the towering victorian houses with their perfectly manacured lawns. The perfection didn't carry on into the inside however. This Clara found out

when her family arrived in house 302 on Bluebird Lane. She has been so happy to move when her father had been promoted by the government to the best class a commoner could achieve on Isla Rojo, "Oblitus." Citizens in Oblitus were the only ones permitted

to reside in Wisteria Grove, and they always boasted about their grand homes. What Clara saw when she explored her new room was anything but grand however. Yes it was a lot superior to her old sleeping quarters in her family's former tenement, but ïthe

room smelled of rotting cabbage and it seemed as if the house had attained quite a bit of termite damage.
"Those big fat liars," thought Clara for an instant. She caught herself though, and she chastised her mind for thinking such a thought. After all,
Page 5 of 11
political enlightenment classes had taught her that no one was perfect except the Great El Presidente Julietta Monroe the III. She would be a big bad hypocrit, as the political enlightenment class had called it, to call out their flaws. For she had many,

many flaws, too.
Clara made a mental note to make a public confession next day at her school during the Hour of Confession. How greatful she was that El Presidente was so merciful. She would also have to thank the Presidente's small shrine near the

front door before she left tomorrow for sparing her life even though she made plenty of mistakes.
After that thought, Clara turned her attention back to her room. She could decorate it later. Now it was time to make it suitable for sleeping in.

She walked around the house looking for a broom closet she had found earlier. The house was huge, so it took her a while to find the thing. She managed to find it though, and swept all the tiny dust bunnies up. Clara cleaned all the rest of her room,

too. By the time it was 9:00 (the time the government had said was an appropriate bedtime for all the 10-12 year olds), Clara had managed to make her bed in a military fashion, set out her school uniform for tomorrow, and even fetch a bucket of water for

which she would drink from tonight if she got thirsty (children weren't allowed to leave their rooms until 6:00 in the morning, because El Presidente had made it so) and use to wash up come morning.
