MINECRAFT SURVIVAL FOR DUMMIES

By creatorwarrior83

Recently, a new game has hit the virtual shelves of the internet. That game, by a small company called Mojang, has opened up worlds of possibilities. In this world, you can create whatever you dream in its creative mode.

But for players who wish for more of a challenge, the game offers survival mode, with limited health and hunger, where you must find resources and build shelters.

This is a guide for that mode, to help you rocket to the top, and even defeat the mysterious Ender Dragon.

Step 1: Ready Your Fists
There are four main ways of interacting with the world of Minecraft: They are: Moving, Placing, Mining, and Crafting.

You don’t have blocks to place at the start of a world, and you have nothing to craft with, so all you can do is move and mine. One of the most valuable resources in the beginning of Minecraft is wood.

Step 2: Item Synthesis
Move over to a tree and mine it to get wood. Craft the wood into a crafting table, and place it on the ground.

With some more wood in specific configurations, you can make tools that allow you to mine more easily. (See our crafting guide in the back of this book)

With your new wooden pickaxe, you can now mine stone. This allows you to craft even better stone tools. Mining into stone is also a good way to get a shelter, which you will need for the night.

Step 3: Safety First
Once you have dug into a mountain, craft a door to keep all of the monsters out. (See our Mobs guide at the end of this book.)

If you see any sheep, kill them and use their wool and some wood to craft a bed, and then sleep through the night. If you couldn’t find sheep before dark, you must play the waiting game until dawn, when most baddies will burn up.

You can also use this time for the next step.

Step 4: Mining for Money
From now on, most of the resources you need to get to the top are down at the bottom. Underground, you can find valuable ores that can give you valuable resources when mined.

(note: some ores must be smelted in a furnace, not covered in this book, to become usable.) You can use Iron and diamond for crafting better equipment, while redstone and gold are for quality of life improvements.
Lapis lazuli is for your next step.

Step 5: MORE POWERRRRR!!!!!!!!
With some of the resources you found while mining, you can craft the next item in your quest: and enchanting table.

This uses lapis lazuli and some of your XP to make existing items stronger, a must have for the perils of the Nether, your next step.

Step 6: The Deep Hot.
Using a rare mineral found deep in the earth: construct a portal to the Nether. (Guide in back) Step inside, and you will find yourself in a realm of fire and lava.

To continue your journey, find a Nether Fortress, then kill all you see and take their drops. You most need the fire-like Blaze’s drops, as well as the black Wither Skeleton’s.

Combine them with the mysterious ender pearls to create the key to your next step: The Eyes of Ender.

Step 7: The End?
Follow these eyes to find the Stronghold, then use the remaining pieces to open the portal to the Ender Dragon. The fight is tough, but once you win, you are rewarded with the ultimate prize: The Dragon Egg.

This mystic egg grants you Ultimate bragging rights.

Step 8: The Very Best Like No One Ever Was
There’s still more to do of course. But that you will have to find elsewhere, and may your quest for knowledge take you far across the lands of the internet.
